Huntington, WV (SportsNetwork.com) - Marshall University has extended the contract of head football coach Doc Holliday for two years, through the 2017 season.
Holliday, who will start his fifth season with the Thundering Herd, has compiled a 27-24 mark. That includes a pair of postseason bowl appearances. Last year, Marshall finished 10-4 and beat Maryland in the Military Bowl.
The extension for Holliday includes an additional $145,000 in incentives.
"Coach Holliday has made Marshall football relevant again," school athletics director Mike Hamrick said. "With his leadership, the Thundering Herd is on its way to competing for championships on a regular basis."
Holliday will continue to receive a base salary of $600,000, which includes radio, television and fundraising appearances.
