Man Given More Jail Time in Overdose Death

A judge added several decades in prison to Shawn Carr's sentence.
BROOKVILLE, JEFFERSON COUNTY – A man in prison for giving a lethal dose of heroin to a teen then hiding her body had at least 20 years added to his prison term.

Under a plea deal 30-year-old Shawn Carr received 16 years in prison for the crime and 4 years probation for giving 19 year-old Devan Knapp from Brookville a deadly dose of heroin in January. Carr then hid her body to make it appear she overdosed on her own.

Jefferson County Judge Foradora states Carr’s plea deal means he admitted to violating the probation he was on at the time of Knapp’s death. Foradora added 20-60 years in prison to Carr’s term.
