Man Facing Charges for Area Fire

A 23-year-old man is facing charges for a fire in an area apartment complex.
GREEN TOWNSHIP, BLAIR COUNTY – A Claysburg man is facing charges of starting the fire in the Greenfield Apartments Tuesday night. Bryan Flickinger, 23, of Claysburg, is now in the Blair County Prison.

According to police, Flickinger admitted to dropping his cigarette in the shed, and that’s when the fire started.

Residents of the complex, though, are now wondering with there’s a connection to a number of fires in the area.

"My kids were already scared because of all the other fires in the area I just told them last week it wouldn't happen here," said one resident who did not want to be named.

The apartment fire marks the second one this week in the area. On Monday, there was a barn fire.

"There's still investigation to be done but as of right now, felony charges have been filed and there is someone behind bars," said Officer Andrew Young of the Greenfield Township Police Department.

But the fires aren't the only thing that's causing residents to worry; they say there’s also been a string of break-ins in the Claysburg-area.

Officer Young says the Greenfield Township police are putting in hours around the clock to help solve these cases.

"Any and all suspicious activity, even if you think it’s nothing, give 9-1-1 a call because you never know."

The Fire Marshall is still investigating both this latest fire, and the barn fire from Monday.

Police pointed out that Flickinger has lived at a home where three other fires occurred.

Flickinger has posted bail.
