Man charged after two animals die

A third was found very sick in a local home after going without food and water for weeks.
CARROLLTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY – A Carrolltown man is facing charges in the death of two animals and leaving another very sick.

According to police, Matthew Straw was to care for the animals in a home along East Campbell Street after a family member died. Another family member contacted borough police in late March concerned for the pets inside the home.

Police say a dog and cat died with a second cat barely alive and the home covered in filth.

Straw is facing charges of animal cruelty and abandonment of animals. Both summary charges carry a $750 fine.
