Michaela Bowser was honored by Scholastic for her reading progress in the "Read 180" program. She's one of 13 students in the United States, chosen for the award. On today's show, Michaela talks about the honor along with her teacher Melissa Fairbanks and Principal Haley Sleegle from Baker Elementary in the Altoona Area School District.

Read 180 is a program to help at-risk readers. The All Star Selection award is chosen by Scholastic and has to do with the amount of improvement Michaela has made with reading since beginning the program.

Michaela received a check for $1200 to go toward furthering education. Her teacher received $1000 for classroom use.
