Local Mom Surprised By Son

Air Force Staff Sergeant returns home from Washington State to surprise his mother at PNG Field Saturday evening.
ALTOONA - There was a special moment before Saturday's Altoona Curve game. Brookville native Sandy Frondek was picked to throw out the first pitch, but that was far from the biggest thrill of the night. Sandy's son George had secretly returned to the area after serving with the Air Force in Washington state. George was dressed up as the catcher and surprised his mom after she threw the pitch.

"I just couldn't believe it because he's stationed in the state of Washington so I couldn't believe he made it out here for me," Sandy says.

"We finally pulled everything together between my sister and my cousin and we got it all going and I was like alright let's do it," Staff Sgt. George Frondek says.

George worked with his sister and cousin to keep the secret. He recently completed a tour of duty in Kuwait and has been with the U.S. Air Force for nearly five years.
