Local Catholic Schools to Collaborate

One school will close a campus at the end of the 2013-14 school year.
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY – Pastors of Altoona Central Catholic School and Saint Rose of Lima have developed a plan to meet the needs those affected when one ACCS school closes at the end of the year.

Saint Mary School will close at the end of 2013-14 school year because it will soon be unable to serve the need of students. Currently Altoona Central Catholic School operates two campuses. Elementary grades (pre-K to 4) attend Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish while middle school grades (5-8) attend Saint Mary Parish.

Effective in the 2014-2015 school year, students entering grade 5 at Altoona Central Catholic students will be able to remain at the Saint Therese campus. Students entering grades 6-8 will have the opportunity to attend Saint Rose of Lima.

Both schools are planning to utilize portable classrooms to accommodate the increased enrollment. Furthermore, both campuses have agreed on a uniform schedule of tuition which will accommodate families with children in both schools.
