ALTOONA – The Lakemont Fire Department and Lakemont Lions teamed up over the weekend to hold their first Bike Safety Rodeo for local children.

More than a dozen children attended the event at the Lakemont Fire House along Logan Boulevard to get their bikes checked and go over the safety rules.

“We have a lot of people that are moving into the area that we have more traffic in the area and there are no sidewalks in the township so we're just trying to get them to ride safely,” said Lakemont Fire Chief Tom Sral.

This was the first year the two organizations paired up together to host the rodeo. They say the have plans to have it again in 2015.
