Is It Baseball Season Yet?

Spikesfest draws crowd.
STATE COLLEGE - The countdown to baseball season is on.

The State College Spikes hosted their annual Spikesfest Sunday afternoon. Hundreds came out to gear up for the upcoming season, including a special guest.

Penn State Head Football Coach James Franklin stopped by to say hello.

Spring Training is currently underway for Spikes players in Florida. General Manager Jason Dambach say they're ready to get going.

"This is a great turnout. It's a terrific event. It's really an opportunity to kind of think baseball and think about outdoor activity at the heart of winter time, so that's really what Spikesfest has become. It's something that I know families look forward to, our season ticket holders and sponsors, they enjoy coming out and getting a little taste of baseball season on a cold winter day," Spikes GM Jason Dambach says.

Opening Day for the Spikes is still a little ways down the road. Their first game is scheduled for June 14th.
