Hometown Hero Jack Weaver

A local WWII veteran shares the emotions of that conflict.
Jack Weaver is a well-loved fixture of the Va Van Zandt Medical Center in Altoona. He makes a point of getting around the different floors, bringing smiles to staff and fellow residents.
The wheelchair is no sweat for this former tank driver in World War II.
He was part of the 2nd Infantry Division between '43 and '46. He was a rifleman, and sergeant in a leadership position. He's part of a generation of men who never talked about the war. Weaver still struggles with the things he saw and did. And the experiences shared with fellow soldiers.
When you see Jack Weaver, he doesn't dwell on the past, but still hopes you can appreciate what he and other servicemembers have sacrificed for this great nation.
