Guilty Verdict in 2009 DUI Assault

The man abandoned his passenger in the car with serious internal injuries.
BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY – A 25-year-old Centre County man was found guilty Wednesday in a November 2009 crash which injured his passenger.

Alex Brown was arrested November 14, 2009 after crashing his Nissan into a utility pole on North Oak Lane in Park Forest. Brown’s female passenger was trapped in the car with serious injuries after the crash and unable to get out of the car.

Brown fled the scene and a neighbor called 911 and paramedics were able to get the passenger to the hospital to be treated for a lacerated spleen, lacerated lung, and broken wrist.

Police arrested Brown at the house party he returned to after the crash and guests refused to name him as the driver. A field sobriety test revealed a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit.

Brown was found guilty of multiple offenses including Aggravated Assault While DUI and two counts of Driving Under the Influence.

Brown will be sentenced in Centre County Court January 10, 2014.
