BROWNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Officials announced Wednesday that Brownstown Borough received a state grant to improve its park.
It’s a $25,000 grant that was awarded to the Brownstown Recreation Park. The community had to raise a matching $25,000 to apply for the grant.
“There are a lot of people who use this park,” said Commissioner Tom Chernisky. “There is going to be batting cages, trails, a golf cage and a volleyball court.”
“The beauty of this park is that there is something for everyone,” said Bob Vamos, Secretary of Brownstown Recreation.
The community has spent the last several years raising the money to match the grant.
“This community always pony’s up to help make a difference,” said Vamos.
Construction for the new upgrades and improvements is set to begin in the Spring.
