Geisinger Looking for a New CEO

Current leader planning his departure.
DANVILLE - Geisinger Health System is looking for a new leader. Dr. Glenn Steele, Geisinger's President and CEO since 2001, will leave the post in about a year.

He was recently named among the nation's most influential physician executives by Modern Healthcare. Dr. Steele also serves on the Congressional Budget Office's Panel of health advisors.

"This is a planned and expected process to ensure that we take the time necessary to identify Geisinger's next leader," said Geisinger Board Chairman William Alexander. "Dr. Steele has done an incredible job of leading and growing the health system, as well as expanding innovative health care services for Geisinger's patients and members.

Dr. Steele will continue as president of xG Health Solutions, an independently operated venture of Geisinger,  that helps health care organizations across the country create value and improve quality
