911 Officials in Elk County tell WTAJ crews are on scene of a major gas line rupture.
National Fuel says there is no natural gas for 260 homes from Broad Street to Beaver Development in Ridgway, Elk County.
Earlier today, a gas line was hit by a contractor operating a bulldozer.
Crews are expected to be working on repairs until 5 or 6 p.m. and perhaps longer Friday night. Affected residents are asked to turn off their water until gas service is restored to prevent the possible rupture of interior water pipes.
A warming center has been setup at the Ridgway Fire Hall. National Fuel and the American Red Cross are there to assist residents and answer questions.
Once gas has been restored, National Fuel employees will visit each affected household to request access to relight gas appliances and heating equipment.
Customers with special needs are asked to call National Fuel's emergency number at 1-800-444-3130 to advise the Company of their circumstances.
WTAJ has a crew on scene and we'll have updates throughout our newscasts and online.
