FTC files lawsuit against T-Mobile

The carrier is accused of adding bogus charges to customers' bills.
WASHINGTON – The Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit against T-Mobile, claiming the mobile carrier added bogus charges to their customers’ bills.

The FTC says the Bellevue, Washington based carrier made hundreds of millions of dollars from the charges. The charges in question were from third-party merchants offering text message subscriptions for things like flirting tips, horoscopes and celebrity gossip, many not authorized by customers.

T-Mobile CEO John J. Legere fired back Tuesday, calling the FTC complaint “sensationalized,” “unfounded and without merit.”
