Fire Department Gives Back

One local fire department decided to be Santa’s helpers and help out families in need this holiday season.

GALLITZIN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- One local fire department decided to be Santa’s helpers and help out families in need this holiday season.

“The smile on their faces makes it all worthwhile,” said Fire Chief Mike Sanders.

The Gallitzin Fire Department collects toys and food donations every year and they distribute them to 12 families in need in their community.

“We saw a need here in our community to help so we just decided to step up,” said Sanders.

This is the fifth year the firefighters will be giving out gifts, so far they only have six families signed up but still have six slots available.

“Anyone in the Tunnelhill, Gallitzin Borough and Township areas, are eligible and their children are ages 10 and under.”

Anyone interest in knowing more information or signing up can call 814- 886-8010.
