False Robbery Report Leads to Charges

A woman who told police she was robbed at knife point is facing charges after police discovered she made the story up.
BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY - A woman who told police she was robbed at knife point is facing multiple charges after police determined the story was false.

Diane Chase of Julian told police the same male suspect who robbed the Uni-Mart approached her August 22nd and cut her with a knife before taking a bank deposit bag and fleeing.

According to police during the course of their investigation Chase admitted she lied about the robbery and created another story about being robbed August 19th. Police obtained video and witnessed the defendant removing removing an estimated $9,800 from the bank bag.

Chase is charged with Theft by Deception, Receiving Stolen Property, and False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities.
