Evening Forecast Sunday, August 17th, 2014

A muggier and more unsettled pattern will be with us this week.
Updated: Sunday Evening, August 17th, 2014
Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo

A weak front crossed the region this morning with scattered showers and thunderstorms and now remains stalled to our south. We will have a clear to partly cloudy sky tonight. Lows will be mostly in the 50s, perhaps reaching into the 40s in a few spots north of Route 22 where there will be less clouds. There might be a few pockets of fog, especially in valley locations in places that did just recently get some rainfall. A disturbance will move along this front Monday and will give us a partly to mostly cloudy sky along with scattered showers, perhaps a thunderstorm in places. The combination of some clouds, the showers and a southeasterly flow will keep temperatures from reaching higher tha the 70s in most spots, and some locations may have a tough time reaching higher than the lower 70s, especially in the counties closer to the Maryland border. This first disturbance will pass to our east on Tuesday but with the front close by, we'll have more clouds than sunshine with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures Tuesday will be in the 70s but the actual high in your location will depend on the timing of any of the shower or thunderstorm activity. With the increased shower activity, dewpoint temperatures will creep up and the nights will be muggier the rest of the week with low temperatures near or just above 60. Wednesday will bring a mix of clouds and sunshine with scattered showers and thunderstorms and highs near 80. Thursday and Friday will be warm and humid with clouds and sunshine. Each day there will be a couple of showers or thunderstorms around, but there will be some spots that will be missed and it will not rain all of the time. With the higher humidity any of the shower or thunderstorm activity can bring flooding downpours.
