Saturday started off chilly with temperatures in the low and mid 40s in the Northern Tier, mid and upper 40s in the Laurel Highlands and valleys. DuBois broke their record low for this date, reaching 43° this morning; and State College came within a degree of their record low. Sunshine and a few clouds this afternoon got temperatures in to the low and mid 70s, and we will be warming up a little more over the next couple days. A cold front will bring some scattered showers this evening from the northwest, and we could hear a few rumbles of thunder before midnight. Most of the showers will come to an end in the early hours of Sunday, but a few will linger into Sunday morning as temperatures only fall into the mid and upper 50s. The front will push through during the day Sunday, with clouds breaking for sunshine and high temperatures reaching the mid and upper 70s in the Laurel Highlands and Northern Tier, while valley communities will get to the upper 70s and near 80°. The best chance for showers Sunday will be closer to the Maryland border. Some patchy fog will develop in the early hours of Monday as temperatures fall into the mid and upper 50s. Monday will start off with a mix of sun and clouds, but more clouds will move in Monday afternoon and evening ahead of the next disturbance that will bring showers and a few rumbles of thunder to the region. High temperatures Monday will be in the mid and upper 70s. That disturbance will move through the region Tuesday, with more clouds than sunshine and showers that will be heavy at times. High temperatures may struggle to make it to 70° in a few locations Tuesday. We’ll dry out a little as we go into Wednesday, but we aren’t going to completely break out of this unsettled pattern as we head toward next weekend.
