Ebensburg Home Flooded

Monday night’s rain storm caused heavy flooding in the region that led to several feet of water filling up one Ebensburg home.
EBENSBURG, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Monday night’s rain storm caused heavy flooding in the region that led to several feet of water filling up one Ebensburg home.

“I came home there were police and fire trucks blocking the roadway,” said Michael Baglio.  “There was about four feet of water in my basement.”

Baglio said this wasn’t the first time his home was damaged in a rain storm.

“It happened a few years ago but nothing like this,” said Baglio.  “I got flood insurance a few months back.”

Baglio said his car was totaled and just about everything in his basement.  He said the flooding would not have been as bad if Ebensburg Borough would put in a proper drainage system.

“It’s a simple thing- put the drainage system in up on Highland Avenue,” said Baglio.

Borough Manager Dan Penatzer said only certain parts of the borough have a storm water system, and there are no plans to add anymore.

"There isn't one planned, there isn't going to be one planned if you live in low laying area and you're at the bottom of the hill - you will need to anticipate its going to rain and rain hard with runoff and there are area's that it will just happen," said Penatzer.

Baglio said he plans to seek legal action against the borough.
