The federal government is spending about $264 a month for every "Obamacare" customer receiving a premium subsidy.
That's according to a new report from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Americans using the Affordable Care Act for coverage are paying about $82 a month on average, with the subsidy.
HHS says about 87 percent of the 5.4 million people who signed up, qualified for subsidies.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates taxpayers will spend $12 billion this year to cover those subsidies.
