Congressman React to Navy Yard Shooting

The President is condemning Navy Yard as a cowardly act, and is promising a full investigation. But a local congressman doesn't want people to turn this tragedy into something its not..
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Thirteen people are dead and several more are injured after a shooting at the Washington Naval Yard. Police say 34 year old Aaron Alexis was one of the shooters. But they are searching for another possible suspect.

Alexis had served in the Navy Reserves and was currently working as a contractor with the Department of Defense. Alexis was killed at the scene.

The President is condemning this as a cowardly act, and is promising a full investigation. But a local congressman doesn't want people to turn this tragedy into something its not.

At a tea party town hall meeting in Altoona Monday night, speakers called for a moment of silence for the victims. And Congressman Bill Shuster called on the public to pray for the people who lost their lives and their families.

Senator Bob Casey released a statement with a similar message of praying for the victims. He also said, "I commend the bravery on all levels of law enforcement in responding to this horrific attack. We will work to bring all those responsible for this attack to justice."

But Representative Shuster didn't want to see anyone use this tragedy to make new laws and take guns always from honest citizens.
The FBI is now in charge of the investigation.
