Community Rallying Around Ill Mother

A group is working to grant her dying wish of a family trip to Disney World.
PITTSBURGH, ALLEGHENY COUNTY – A non-profit group has reached their goal to help a Pittsburgh woman’s dream come true while she battles stage four breast cancer.

Three years ago, 28-year-old Jhanay Harber was diagnosed with breast cancer. The cancer has spread to the mother of two’s lungs, spine and brain. Doctors say she only has a few months to live.

Harber is at Magee-Women’s Hospital, holding on with kisses from her sons, group hugs, and a lot of prayer. While loved ones continue to provide support and hope, Jhanay’s dying wish is to take her children and family to Disney World.

“I’ve had this experience with my grandparents, going to Disney World, having the most wonderful time there and I just want my kids to have the same thing,” said Harber.

Jamie’s Dream Team, a non-profit created by Jamie Holmes, works to lift the spirits of those suffering from serious illness. Right now they are working to raise money for Jhanay’s dream.

“Begging and pleading anyone that possibly can donate air miles, Disney gift cards, hotel rooms, anything you could possibly think of to get this family there, that’s what we need,” said Jamie Holmes with Jamie’s Dream Team.

Jamie’s Dream Team has about a week to pull everything together, but no matter how tough, Holmes says the trip will become a reality for Jhanay and her family.

“It’s important for me to have this time with my kids,” said Harber. “It’s because I don’t know how much time I have here.

Our news partner KDKA reported Friday morning they have reached their goal. Harber, her fiancé and two young sons will meet 17 members of their extended family at a home near Disney World. Harber also plans to get married on this trip.
