Clogging is an Art Form and a Form of Exercise!

A recent "Arts for a Day" program held at one area elementary school showed the students that art and being fit can go hand-in -hand!

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY -- As part of the 17th annual arts for a day program held at this Blair County school, dozens of artists displayed and engaged the kids in their art form. For some forms it's art and exercise.

Judy Schirmacher, a member of the Horsehoe Cloggers says, "The benefit of any type of clog dancing would be the general exercise and the memory of the routines we teach in beats and counts."

Judy says the team effort of these appalachian clogging dances also helps young people learn what it takes to work together.

The ages of the local group Horseshoe Cloggers range from 6 to 86 and everything in-between.

Staying active is the art form behind this type of dancing.
