The Pleasant Gap Carnival is one of the largest fundraisers for the volunteer fire company. Firefighters say it helps them stay afloat.

"Every hot sausage sandwich, every slice of pizza you get this week really helps," says Lou Brungard, the Pleasant Gap Fire Company's Fire Chief.

The Pleasant Gap Fire Company has an operating budget of over $300,000 but only receives around $25,000 in grants every year. To make up for the shortfall, they host annual events, like the carnival.

"The carnival is definitely our largest fundraiser," says Rick Meyers, the Pleasant Gap Fire Company's President. "Over 50% of fundraising efforts come from the carnival alone."

"Fundraising is challenging," adds the company's chief, Brungard. "It's a lot of work but it's well worth it and it helps the bottom line."
