California residents face fines for wasting water

Residents can be fined up to $500 per day for wasting water during their latest drought.
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA – California residents are being told to stop wasting water, or face a monetary fine.

State water regulators voted Tuesday to approve fines up to $500 per day for people wasting water on landscaping, car washing and other outdoor uses.

The move comes as California attempts to increase water conservation to tackle one of its worst droughts in decades.
