Bigger, Better Hackenberg

PSU quarterback Christian Hackenberg adds muscle, zip this spring.
STATE COLLEGE - Bigger. Stronger. Better.
We know for sure the first two apply to Penn State sophomore quarterback Christian Hackenberg.

The reigning Big Ten freshman of the year has added about 10 pounds of muscle this off-season.
The extra strength has meant more zip on his passes this spring.
As for that better business, Hackenberg says he's focused on one specific area to improve on.

“You know I want to have more consistent footwork and I think that's going to lead to more consistent accuracy, you know on the short routes, and the deep balls,” Hackenberg says. “And just continuously working on my footwork and fine-tuning that. So in turn the accuracy and all that stuff will improve.”

Getting better also means watching a lot of film.
Hackenberg says most of what he studies with QB coach Ricky Rahne and offensive coordinator John Donovan comes from Penn State practice with a bit of other QBs they've coached mixed in.
