Bayer Removing Name from Mt. Washington Sign

The iconic sign in Pittsburgh won't have the Bayer name in lights anymore.
PITTSBURGH - The drug company Bayer is giving up a landmark sign that overlooks the City of Pittsburgh.

After nearly two decades, Bayer says it's ending its lease for the sign on Mount Washington.

The deteriorating sign has been a source of controversy in recent years.

Bayer asked the sign's owner, Lamar Advertising, to turn it off "as quickly as they can, but Lamar says they have to wait for an electrician to schedule the job and aren't exactly sure when the name will actually come off the sign.
