ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - If you still have love handles after losing weight and exercising, you may want to consider another option. A plastic surgeon in our region offers a cool technology that may help you achieve the shape you want.
It involves freezing areas of fat, such as love handles, bra fat, and stomach flab. At Blair Plastic Surgery in Altoona, Dr. Robert Louton explains, "Cool Sculpting uses cooling panels to lower the temperature of the fat." He adds that, "freezing the fat triggers a cellular response that causes those cells to bcome eliminated."
The company that invented Cool Sculpting says an applicator delivers controlled cooling to a targeted area of the body for 1 to 2 hours. One woman who tried it says, "I almost felt like I was laying down in the snow a little bit stingy a little bit burny, but by minute 8 I didn't feel it." The patient can resume normal activity afterwards, with the fat expected to be absorbed over the next three to four months.
Dr. Louton says, "it just gradually starts to go away and it gets metabolized and it's gone and it's permanent."
The cost ranges from $700 to $1500 for each treatment area.
The FDA only approved the procedure for the torso, but the saddlebags, and the arms could be next.
