A Region Divided?

Central Pennsylvania native and St. Louis Cardinals first baseman faces off against Pirates.
PHILPSBURG, CENTRE COUNTY - There's at least one family in Central Pennsylvania that will be pulling for a St. Louis Cardinals victory over the Pirates Monday afternoon.

The reason is understandable, a member of that family, 25-year old Matt Adams plays first base for the Cardinals.

His parents often try to make the trip to Pittsburgh to see him play when the Cardinals play at PNC Field, but these trips take on a completely different meaning as the Pirates try to close the deal to advance to the National League Championship Series.

Adams' hometown has enjoyed watching his ascent to Major League Baseball.

In July, the State College Spikes, a Cardinals affiliate, decided to pass out Matt Adams bobble-heads to honor his success.

Although still celebrated in Central PA, Adams and the Cardinals are now the only thing standing between Pirates and NLCS.

We want to hear your thoughts on our Facebook about the juxtaposition of the Pirates and Adams going toe-to-toe...
