92,863 total attendance at Beaver Stadium

About 4,000 fewer in attendance compared to opening game in 2012.
UNIVERSITY PARK - 92,863 fans were in attendance for the Penn State Football home opener against Eastern Michigan according to Penn State.

That's 4323 fewer in attendance when compared to the 2012 Nittany Lion home opener against Ohio University.

"It's going to get better [attendance], if you look at the schedule" said Mitch Moyer, a senior at Penn State. "I think the student section was strong, and it was a good turnout."

Penn State announced a new ticket policy back in July to ensure revenue and attendance at non-conference games such as Eastern Michigan and Kent State.

The new policy required those buying single-game tickets to see Penn State host Michigan also buy tickets to the Eastern Michigan game.

For those buying single-game tickets to see Penn State host Nebraska, ticket purchases for the Kent State game were also required.

Despite fewer in attendance for the home opener compared to 2012, many were impressed with the stadium noise.

"The atmosphere lends itself to the fact that the team was doing well," said PSU junior Mike Pansolini. "I didn't make it in the stadium until halftime, and that place was loud... incredible."
