Cinema Debuts New Sound System

The installation took three weeks to complete
RICHLAND, CAMBRIA COUNTY – A local theater has completed installation of a new sound system, becoming the first cinema in Pennsylvania to have the system.

Richland Cinemas needed three weeks to install the Dolby Atmos Sound System. Forty-three speaker cabinets were installed housing a total of 53 speakers. After the booth was fully wired a Dolby Labs technician spent nine hours programming and tuning the system.

The Cinema worked with Dolby on the design and equipment list before installation began.

Richland Cinema plans to show four major releases in the Atmos room before the end of the year, including “Thor: The Dark World” and “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”.

Before the system was installed, the closest theaters using Atmos were in Washington, D.C. and New York City.
