The staff at one area prison are touching a lot of lives this holiday season with gifts from the heart.

HUNTINGDON, HUNTINGDON COUNTY -- It's called the Child of Dreams project --- and it's touching kids of all ages in Central Pennsylvania.

Major Vernon Dolby of the Salvation Army in Huntingdon says, "It's amazing when people come together and help others out. That's what it's all about."

The generous staff of SCI Smithfield in Huntingdon are in their 11th year of granting wishes in the community. This year more than $10,000 was collected. It's being used to fund a trip for Make a Wish kid Aubree Thompson.
She's heading to Disneyworld. "Thank you and I really appreciate them," says Thompson.

Gift bags were made for area veterans and more than 60 food baskets prepared and donated to families in need. Toys were also collected and now the Salvation Army will help those in need.

Prison guards, counselors and the entire team here at this prison are spreading the spirit of the season.

As Child of Dreams Committee member Candy Snyder explains, "I think it makes everybody feel good to be able to give back to the community."

Over the last 11 years, more than $100,000 has been raised and donated to area projects.
