Central Cambria Wins Again

The Red Devils beat Forest Hills, to improve to 5-1 on the year.
SIDMAN, CAMBRIA COUNTY - At G.H. Miller Field in Sidman, the Forest Hills Rangers were looking to continue their winning ways after a 42-0 trouncing of Cambria Heights in week 5.  However, the visiting Red Devils from Central Cambria had other ideas.  The Red Devils were able to put 3 points on the board after capitalizing on an early turnover.  Central Cambria then added to that lead in a hurry, as they tacked on a TD and conversion to lead 11-0.

The Rangers were able to respond, as Joe Donoughe completed a short pass in the flat, which Ian Wieczorek then took 58 yards for TD.  Donoughe then scooted in for the conversion and the CC lead was 11-8.

Central Cambria did not let up, scoring again and building a 10-point advantage.  The Rangers were once again able to strike back, as Donoughe threw a bullet to Quinn DiFlauro on a slant pattern which turned into a 53-yard TD.  On the play, DiFlauro cut into the Central Cambria defense to make the catch and then turned on the jets, outrunning all defenders to the end zone.  Donoughe threw a short pass to Tyler Shima for the conversion.  At this point, the Rangers trailed 18-16.

After a Red Devil fumble on the ensuing possession, the Rangers looked to take the lead, with a 1st and goal from the 8-yard line.  However, the Rangers turned the ball back over as quickly as they had received it.  Neither team would score again in the 2nd Quarter, as CC held the 18-16 advantage heading into halftime.

Central Cambria was able to score two more touchdown’s in the 3rd Quarter and once in the fourth. Forest Hills would add only more TD in the contest, as Donoughe scampered in from 26-yards out.  The 39-22 defeat now puts the Rangers at 3-3 on the season.  Although it was a loss, Donoughe finished the game 20-37 with 324 yards passing and added 55 yards rushing.  Shima had 5 catches for 68 yards and Shareef Blough had 7 catches for 87 yards. On defense, Dusty Ohler contributed 16 tackles and a fumble recovery and Blough had 1 interception in the end zone to thwart a Central Cambria drive.

Forest Hills (3-3) looks to bounce back on Friday (10/11), as they travel to Penn Cambria (1-5), 7pm kickoff.
