First Energy Threatens Lockout

More than 100 employees may not have work next week if a deal is not reached.
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY – First Energy announced Wednesday they plan to lock out 140 employees from six areas if a deal is not reached by Sunday.

The company’s press conference ended early Wednesday evening and would not get into specific talking points.

First Energy has been in negotiations with the union since May and made their final offer two weeks ago. As of Wednesday evening the union has not put the offer to a vote.

Members of the union have been protesting outside First Energy’s Altoona office through most of Wednesday afternoon. Workers were notified Wednesday afternoon of the potential lockout.

This is a developing story. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
