Most of us realize that Christmas isn't just for kids and that's why some area residents are going out of their way to help seniors they don't even know.
They're taking part in the "Be a Santa to a Senior" program in Blair and Cambria counties. It involves buying a gift for an older resident in a nursing home or in the community who doesn't have family, or receive many visitors. 200 seniors will benefit from the program.
A spokesman for Home Instead Senior Care, which organizes the effort, says it's designed to make the holidays brighter for people who may feel forgotten.
Slippers, robes, and even Steeler sweaters can be found among the gifts. It's time to turn them in so that they can be wrapped and delivered.
Home Instead says you can drop them off at their offices or to the store, where you got the gift tag.
