About "Be a Santa to a Senior": This program is similar to "Toys for Tots", only it focuses on the needs of local senior citizens. The seniors write down what they need on a paper ornament tag. The tags are collected and hung on trees at participating businesses in Central PA. If you want to help, pick up a tag, buy the item or items written on it and place them in containers near the "Be a Santa to a Senior" tree that you took it from. Your "senior" will receive your gift in time for the holidays.
Some of the most requested gift items include socks, slippers and batteries.
Home Instead Senior Care has teamed up with area retailers and non-profit agencies to sponsor Be a Santa to a Senior. The program runs from Nov. 4 to Dec. 9.
