Authorities Shut Down Drug Tunnel

The tunnel ran more than a quarter-mile beneath the border.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Authorities announced they have shut down a recently-completed drug tunnel running beneath the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

The one-third mile long tunnel runs between warehouses in San Diego on the U.S. side and Tijuana on the Mexico side. It included an electronic rail system, and both electrical and ventilation systems.

Three people were arrested when the tunnel was discovered and authorities seized more than 300 pounds of cocaine and more than 8 tons of marijuana.
