Animals Rescued From Fire

Several cats and dogs were rescued after a fire broke out in an Elk County home.
SAINT MARYS, ELK COUNTY - Numerous animals had to be rescued from a burning home Sunday as smoke poured from the attic.  It broke out at 328 Walnut Street in Saint Marys.

Tom Bauer, with the Crystal Fire Department, said the fire broke out in the finished attic of the home at around 2:40 pm.

Everyone, including all of the dogs and cats made it out safely.

Bauer said the attic was badly damaged and the second floor has some water damage.  The fire marshal is investigating, however Bauer said it does not appear suspicious.

The local ambulance service and police assisted.
