It Is Showtime for Claysburg CACT to Present A Christmas Carol
(November 3, 2013 Press Release for Immediate Release)
Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is slated for Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9, 2013 beginning at 7:30 pm at the Claysburg-Kimmel High School Auditorium.
The show is under the direction of Tom Ringler. Music is under the direction of Terry Hershberger. Some of the lead characters in the show are Roger Knisely as Ebenezer Scrooge, Dennis Harr as Bob Cratchit, Alice Brown as Mrs. Cratchit, Zachary Cleveland as Tiny Tim, Heidi Kennedy as Belle, Darius Morgan as Ghost of Christmas Past, Katharina Will as Ghost of Christmas Present, and Rhonda Fiess as Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. A group of more than thirty-five people make up the cast which includes young and old alike. Some of them are veteran performers and some of them are new to the acting scene. It is an eclectic blend of performers who work well together.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors over 65. They are available in advance from any cast member or at C&S Market in Claysburg. (You may call the market at 814-239-5373.) Tickets will also be available at the door the evenings of the show. Tickets are not reserved.
Claysburg is no stranger to community theatre performances. In November of 1978, the group presented its first production, See How They Run. Tom Ringler was the director. They have been doing shows each year ever since and most recently presented You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
For this show, Claysburg P.A.S.T. is underwriting a $3.00 per ticket discount on a four (4) pack or more of tickets to either night’s show. With this discount, kids and seniors over 65 will pay $5 instead of $8 and adults will pay $7 instead $10. The discount will only apply to tickets purchased in advance, and the ticket buyers need to mention the "Ebenezer Scrooge Discount.” Hopefully this discount will be an incentive for people to bring a few extra relatives or friends along to the show. It will also make it a little more affordable for larger families to attend.
The important thing is to buy tickets in advance for the show, A Christmas Carol, and support your local community theatre group who, like many have seen a decline in attendance through the years.. For a few bucks, you get entertained for two hours, you get into the Christmas spirit, and you see a lot of great local talent performing on stage. After all, you have never really heard a complaint about the quality of the performances in Claysburg. They can be stacked up against some of the larger more professional performances in the area.
Remember for this show, a few extra tickets can make all the difference. Claysburg performers would like to strut their stuff to a full house. Help them make it happen. Don’t forget to ask for the “Ebenezer Scrooge Discount” on your pack of tickets. It is like an early Christmas gift for you and the cast members!
