Affordable Care Act Numbers Released

Only a handful of people were able to sign up on Healthcare.gov on launch day.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Many customers who successfully signed up for new health insurance policies in October completed the process on state-run exchanges, citing problems with the federal exchange.

According to CBS News, only six people were able to sign up October 1st, the day the system went online. The streamlined operations on state-run websites allowed for a quicker response to problems.

“We are able to design marketplaces that worked for our citizens, our businesses, our consumers,” said Mila Kofman, Executive Director of the DC Health Exchange.

Pennsylvania is not one of the states running its own exchange which means residents must rely on the federal exchange and Healthcare.gov.
