Local GOP Members React to Cantor's Upset

Eric Cantor's defeat in the primary is getting GOP members in our area talking.
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY –  Eric Cantor's upset in Virginia is getting local G-O-P members talking in our area.

Republican Glenn Thompson and Blair county's local GOP chair spoke with us and say that there were a number of factors that could have contributed to the house majority leader's defeat, but both believe that what happened is specific to Cantor's district.

Congressman Glenn Thompson said, “Some of that obviously may have to do with he burden that comes with a leadership position that you have so much in addition to serving your constituents.”

A.C. Stickel, the chair of the Blair County Republican Committee said, "It's not Republicans versus the Tea Party or Republicans against some other faction. We are one. We are all Republicans and it's time to work together and unite and move forward."

Stickel says that outcomes are different everywhere. He said locally Congressmen Bill Shuster ran against two Tea Party candidates in the primary and he ended up keeping his seat.
