LATROBE, WESTMORELAND COUNTY - It's a milestone week for linebacker Sean Spence.
It marks his first action in pads since suffering a career threatening knee injury during the 2012 pre-season.
The Steelers third round draft pick in that year, he's been off the football field for most of two seasons.
Spence has never played a real down in the NFL because of the hurt knee and a broken finger last fall.
"I had a lot of dark moments," Spence says, "and I think it made me mentally and physically tougher to endure different things and look at situations different."
The Steelers resume training camp activities Wednesday at St. Vincent College.
The team's annual night practice is set for this Friday in Latrobe.
