You can see him Friday nights on a high school football field near you.  To Steelers fans, he looks like a familiar face.  So is this a real treat?  Or just a trick?

"I'm Dave Adams, and people think I look a lot like (former Steelers Coach) Bill Cowher,” says Dave Adams, central PA referee.  “In fact, people are always asking me for his autograph and his picture.

Adams has even fooled some of Cowher’s former players.

"Gary Anderson, the former kicker years ago came to Northern Bedford High School where I taught,“ sayd Adams.  “And he's in the auditorium and the principal brought me up to him. He looked at me and he said, ‘Did I miss a meeting?!  What's goin on? ’ He says, ‘I can't believe you look so much like our coach, Bill Cowher!’”

Adams isn’t angry about the attention.  In fact, he relishes it.  The referee of 15 years also officiates baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball in central PA.

Adams also used to coach.  In fact, he coached the Mount Aloysius womens’ basketball team to a National Championship back in 2003.

Yet, the Cowher thing is what he’s asked most about.

"It's never bothered me one time,” says Adams.  “I've met a lot of real nice people and we have a lot of fun.  And people get excited.  If i can make their day, that's fine with me."

Adams and Cowher actually did cross paths, years ago at an athletic conference in Pittsburgh.

"I shook his hand and I said, 'Coach Cowher, I've always wanted to meet you.  People say we look a lot alike and people always ask me for your autograph.'  And he says, 'you're a good looking guy.’”
