HOLLIDAYSBURG - We've got the helmets and pads ready for some high school football.
It's time for day number two of WTAJ's Pigskin Previews.
The first of our three-a-day takes us to Hollidaysburg where the Golden Tigers are coming off back-to-back 3-7 seasons.
Hollidaysburg boasts experience in Homer DeLattre's second year as head coach, with nearly 40 players back from a year ago.
The coach says he hopes the numbers will let the Tigers build a solid reserve.
"Every great program has great depth where they can plug guys in,” DeLattre says. “And I think getting the kids to understand the team commitment levels and understanding that this is about the team, it's not about themselves, it's not about a coach, it's not about one player, it's about everybody."
"Every year, everybody goes to the weight room and gets stronger and faster. Gets better technique-wise,” says Zach Simpson, a senior lineman for Hollidaysburg. “I think that should pay off for our team this year."
The Golden Tigers open the season at home against Yough on August 29.
