LORETTO, CAMBRIA COUNTY – Former Saint Francis University safety Jake DeMedal, who completed his Red Flash career this past fall, has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent.

DeMedal finished his career with 301 tackles, including 72 as a senior in 2013. He was named to his second consecutive NEC First Team this past season. He was a terror from the defensive backfield, finishing second on the team with those 72 tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack. He finished eighth in the conference in tackles.

“I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity,” DeMedal said. “I’m so thankful for the support from everybody along the way.”

The Steelers will hold rookie orientation next weekend and will follow that with OTAs and minicamps that will run through mid-June.
