University of Miami football coach Al Golden, a Penn State grad, ended speculation that he could become the Nittany Lions' head coach on Sunday, by releasing a statement through the Hurricane's website.

Golden's statement reads, "There has been much speculation concerning my future at the University of Miami.  While I am flattered that our progress at The U during an extremely difficult period of time is recognized, I am also appreciative of just what we have here at UM and I am not a candidate for another position. We are eager to welcome our student athletes back to campus next week and visit with prospective student-athletes and their families beginning January 15."

Multiple media outlets reported that Golden had interviewed with Penn State on Saturday.

In his three years with the Hurricanes, Golden has gone 22-15.  Before that, he coached the Temple football squad.  Golden was an offensive lineman at Penn State from 1989-1991.

ESPN is reporting that Penn State interviewed with former Titan's head coach (and Penn State grad) Mike Munchak and Vanderbilt coach James Franklin on Sunday.
