PITTSBURGH, PA - He spent 17 seasons making life miserable for opponents, Wednesday Mario Lemieux became immortalized for that success on the ice as a 10 foot, bronze statue was unveiled outside of the Consol Energy Center.

Surrounded by his family, friends and thousands of fans, Lemieux told the crowd he didn't know what to expect when he arrived in Pittsburgh but that the city quickly became his home.

Le Magnifique scored 690 goals during his career and helped lead the Penguins to two Stanley Cups. He was also a three-time MVP.
