Burnett Impressive, As Bucs Down Cards

(Pittsburgh) - A.J. Burnett, who had been on the shelf with a broken orbital bone sustained during spring training, made his Pittsburgh Pirates debut Saturday night.

Burnett was impressive, throwing 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while striking out 7 along the way, as the Pirates beat the Cardinals 2-0.

Burnett was scheduled to make a rehab start in Altoona, however was activated Saturday afternoon because Kevin Correia was not able to pitch due to soreness in his side.

Pedro Alvarez drove in both Pirates runs, as he went 2-4, raising his batting average to .121 on the year.
