ALTOONA - The Altoona Curve defeated the Erie SeaWolves 4-3 on Monday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Stetson Allie had a big day at the plate with a two-run blast in the first and tallied the game winning RBI in the seventh.

After a long first inning by Curve starter Adrian Sampson, where he threw 25 pitches but didn’t allow any runs, the Curve offense provided the right hander some support in the bottom of the frame. After Josh Bell drew a two-out walk, Allie clubbed his 15th home run of the season to left and gave Altoona a 2-0 advantage.

Erie tied the game in the top of the second. Dean Green hit a ground rule double to lead off the inning and scored on an Aaron Westlake single up the middle. Westlake scored the tying run in the game three batters later on a throwing error by Allie.

Altoona scored their third run of the game in the bottom of the second. After a pair of lineouts, Keon Broxton belted a solo home run to right center that gave the Curve their second lead of the game. However, the Howlers tied the game in the sixth on a solo blast by Green.

Allie provided the heroics for Altoona in the seventh. After Alen Hanson was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, he stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Drew Maggi, which brought Allie to the plate. The Curve first baseman collected his second hit of the game with a single up the middle to bring home Hanson.

Jeff Inman (3-0) earned the victory for the Curve after he worked two scoreless innings and lowered his ERA to 0.77. Erie right hander Brennan Smith (0-1) suffered the loss while Kenn Kasparek collected his ninth save and remains perfect in saves after he worked a three-batter ninth. Sampson picked up his 15th quality start of the season but didn’t factor into the decision. Altoona’s starting pitcher went six innings and gave up three runs on nine hits.
